Troubleshooting

Cause: One or more discovery providers encountered an error, but the scan continued with the remaining providers.

Resolution: Check the Error Summary field on the Scan Run record for details. Common causes:

  • Insufficient API permissions (assign OrgGuard Admin permission set)
  • Scan query timeout (retry the scan — transient issue)
  • Governor limit approached (scan will chain automatically on next run)

Possible causes:

  • The OrgGuard Admin permission set is not assigned to the running user — go to Setup > Permission Sets > OrgGuard Admin > Manage Assignments
  • The running user’s profile does not have “API Enabled” — contact your Salesforce administrator to enable the “API Enabled” profile permission
  • The org genuinely has no auth assets of the types OrgGuard scans

Resolution: Run the Permissions Check (Step 2 of Setup Wizard) to verify access.

Check:

  1. Email Deliverability — Setup > Email > Deliverability must be set to “All Email”
  2. Policy Notification Settings — Ensure Notify Asset Owner or Notify Admin Group is enabled on the policy
  3. Deduplication — The same finding won’t re-notify within the deduplication window
  4. Notification Records — Check the Notifications tab for “Failed” status with error details
  5. Spam Folder — Check the recipient’s spam/junk folder

Cause: The wizard only appears automatically on first launch or if setup is incomplete.

Resolution: Check the OrgGuard_Setup__c custom setting:

  • If Is_Complete__c is true, the wizard won’t show again
  • To re-run the wizard, set Is_Complete__c to false via Setup > Custom Settings > OrgGuard Setup > Manage

Resolution: Click the Refresh button on the dashboard. Data auto-refreshes every 5 minutes. If counts seem wrong, trigger a new scan from Scan Run History.

Who can do this: OrgGuard Admin only. If you don’t see the Diagnostics tab, ask your admin to assign OrgGuard Admin (see Permission Sets).

Cause: Persistent logging defaults to ERROR level. INFO/DEBUG messages are only captured when Support Mode or Debug Mode is active.

Resolution: Click Enable Support Mode from the Diagnostic Log Viewer, then reproduce the issue.

Still stuck? Email support@orgguard.com. If you have OrgGuard Admin access, attach a diagnostic bundle export — this helps us troubleshoot faster. If you have OrgGuard User or OrgGuard Auditor access, ask your Salesforce admin to export the bundle on your behalf.
